Your iPhone likely replaces a number of devices you once used on a regular basis. As an alarm clock, for example, your iPhone offers a world of notification possibilities that goes above and beyond the offerings of a standard bedside radio clock. The device lacks a snooze button with custom intervals, however, so you either have to use a workaround with the native Clock app, or use a third-party app to set your snooze time to as long or as short as you like.

1 Using the Native Clock App

2 Launch the Clock app

Launch the Clock app, and then tap "Alarm" at the bottom of the screen.

3 Tap Edit

Tap "Edit," and then reset the alarm you're currently using so that the snooze feature is disabled. Ensure the alarm itself remains enabled, and be sure to verify that the other settings -- the notification sound and repeat options, for example -- are set the way you want them. Tap "Save."

4 Tap

Tap "+" and add a new alarm, and then set it to go off slightly after the previous alarm. Tap "Save." Repeat this step, adding alarms for each time you expect to hit the snooze button -- you're essentially creating your own custom snooze button intervals.

5 Using the Wave Alarm App

6 Install and launch the Wave Alarm app

Install and launch the Wave Alarm app (see Resources), and then tap the small gear icon above the displayed clock face.

7 Tap Add Alarm

Tap "Add Alarm," and then configure your alarm the way you want it, entering your desired wake time and selecting a notification.

8 Tap Snooze

Tap "Snooze," and then modify the snooze intervals. Available options are two, five, 10, 15 or 20 minutes.

9 Tap Save to enable the alarm

Tap "Save" to enable the alarm for use.

10 Using the Wake Alarm App

11 Purchase and install the Wake Alarm app

Purchase and install the Wake Alarm app (see Resources), and then launch it when installation is complete.

12 Drag the outer rim

Drag the outer rim of the clock face that appears until you reach your preferred wake-up time. Alternatively, tap the hour numerals and drag the outer rim, and then tap the minute numerals and do the same.

13 Tap the small tab

Tap the small tab with the downward-facing arrow at the bottom of the screen to reveal the basic notification and day options. Configure the settings to your liking, and then tap the downward-facing arrow tab to close the menu.

14 Swipe your finger

Swipe your finger from the right side of the screen to the left to reveal the alarm's additional options menu. Change the snooze interval using the "Snooze Time" option -- you can choose 10-, 15- or 20-minute intervals between alarms -- and then configure the remaining options as you see fit.

15 Swipe

Swipe from left to right to go back to the clock face. Tap the check mark at the top of the screen to save your new alarm and enable it.

  • Information in this article applies to iPhones running iOS 7. It may vary slightly or significantly with other versions or products.
  • When you set the intervals for the snooze button on the Wave Alarm app, the setting goes into effect globally for all alarms in the app. The Wake Alarm app, on the other hand, allows you to set a unique snooze interval for each of your alarms.
